Operation Room Officer - PORT QASIM AUTHORITY

Job Description

Port Qasim Authority is seeking a dedicated and vigilant individual to join our team as an Operation Room Officer. The Operation Room Officer will be responsible for monitoring and coordinating port operations from the central operations room, ensuring smooth and efficient maritime activities.

Responsibilities:

1. Monitor marine traffic and vessel movements within the port area using radar, AIS systems, and other surveillance equipment.
2. Coordinate with port personnel, including pilots, tug operators, and terminal operators, to facilitate safe and efficient vessel berthing, docking, and departure.
3. Maintain constant communication with vessels, providing navigational guidance, weather updates, and other relevant information to ensure safe navigation.
4. Respond to distress calls, emergency situations, and security incidents, coordinating with emergency response teams and external agencies as needed.
5. Monitor port facilities, infrastructure, and equipment for any signs of malfunction, damage, or security breaches, taking appropriate action to address issues.
6. Coordinate with port control, harbor masters, and regulatory authorities to ensure compliance with port regulations, safety procedures, and environmental standards.
7. Maintain accurate records of vessel movements, incidents, and operational activities in the port's logbook and electronic systems.
8. Monitor weather conditions, tidal currents, and other environmental factors that may affect port operations, taking proactive measures to mitigate risks.
9. Provide support and assistance to port personnel, vessel crews, and stakeholders as needed to ensure the smooth flow of maritime traffic and operations.
10. Participate in training exercises, drills, and simulations to enhance readiness for emergency response and crisis management.

Requirements:

1. Bachelor's degree in Nautical Science, Maritime Studies, or a related field. Additional certifications in maritime operations or vessel traffic services are preferred.
2. Proven experience in maritime operations, vessel traffic management, or a related field, with a minimum of X years of experience.
3. Knowledge of maritime regulations, navigational practices, and port operations.
4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with diverse stakeholders, including vessel crews, port personnel, and regulatory authorities.
5. Excellent problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills, particularly in high-pressure situations.
6. Proficiency in the use of navigational equipment, communication systems, and computer software.
7. Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as required by operational needs.
8. Physical fitness and agility to perform duties in a maritime environment, including climbing stairs, walking on uneven surfaces, and standing for extended periods.
9. Attention to detail and accuracy in monitoring and recording operational activities.
10. Commitment to safety, security, and environmental stewardship in all aspects of port operations.
