Job Description

Port Qasim Authority is seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join our team as Manager (Industrial Relations). As the Manager (Industrial Relations), you will be responsible for managing and fostering positive relationships between the organization and its employees, as well as ensuring compliance with labor laws and regulations.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement strategies for maintaining positive employee relations and fostering a harmonious work environment within the organization.
  2. Serve as the primary point of contact for addressing employee grievances, disputes, and concerns, ensuring prompt and fair resolution in accordance with company policies and labor laws.
  3. Collaborate with department heads and senior management to address employee-related issues and implement effective solutions to improve employee morale and engagement.
  4. Interpret and ensure compliance with labor laws, regulations, and collective bargaining agreements, providing guidance and support to management and staff on employment-related matters.
  5. Coordinate and participate in collective bargaining negotiations with labor unions or employee representatives, ensuring the organization's interests are represented while fostering collaborative relationships.
  6. Oversee the administration of employee benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other welfare programs, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and company policies.
  7. Develop and implement employee training programs on topics such as conflict resolution, diversity and inclusion, and labor law compliance to promote a positive work culture and enhance employee skills.
  8. Maintain accurate records and documentation related to employee relations activities, including grievances, disciplinary actions, and collective bargaining agreements.
  9. Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes in the field of industrial relations, providing recommendations for continuous improvement and compliance.
  10. Prepare reports and presentations for management on employee relations metrics, trends, and key performance indicators.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Industrial Relations, Business Administration, or related field. Master's degree or professional certification (e.g., PHR, SPHR) is preferred.
  2. Proven experience in industrial relations, employee relations, or labor relations roles, with a minimum of X years in a managerial or supervisory capacity.
  3. Thorough knowledge of labor laws, regulations, and collective bargaining practices in Pakistan.
  4. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with employees, management, labor unions, and government agencies.
  5. Excellent conflict resolution and negotiation skills, with a track record of successfully resolving employee disputes and grievances.
  6. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee matters with tact and discretion.
  7. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  8. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  9. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and HRIS software for data management and reporting.
  10. Experience in the maritime industry or public sector is advantageous but not required.
