Job Description

Port Qasim Authority is seeking an experienced and innovative individual to join our team as Manager (Communication & Electronics). In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the planning, implementation, and maintenance of communication and electronic systems within the port area to ensure efficient and secure operations.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement strategies for the design, installation, and maintenance of communication and electronic systems to support port operations, including but not limited to radio communication, CCTV systems, radar, navigation aids, and security systems.
  2. Supervise and lead a team of communication and electronics engineers, technicians, and support staff, providing guidance and support to ensure the effective functioning of systems and equipment.
  3. Collaborate with internal departments, stakeholders, and external vendors to assess communication and electronic system requirements and implement solutions that meet operational needs and regulatory standards.
  4. Ensure the availability, reliability, and integrity of communication and electronic systems through regular maintenance, upgrades, and troubleshooting activities.
  5. Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules and procedures to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance of systems and equipment.
  6. Coordinate with external regulatory agencies and industry bodies to ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and best practices in communication and electronics.
  7. Conduct risk assessments and implement appropriate security measures to safeguard communication and electronic systems against cyber threats, unauthorized access, and other security risks.
  8. Provide technical support and training to port staff on the use, maintenance, and troubleshooting of communication and electronic systems.
  9. Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends in communication and electronics to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement.
  10. Prepare reports, budget proposals, and other documentation related to communication and electronic system operations and maintenance.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  2. Proven experience in communication and electronic systems design, implementation, and maintenance, with a minimum of X years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  3. Strong knowledge of communication protocols, electronic systems, networking principles, and security practices.
  4. Experience with radio communication systems, CCTV systems, radar systems, and other relevant technologies used in maritime or port environments.
  5. Excellent leadership, team management, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse workforce.
  6. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation.
  7. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  8. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  9. Proficiency in relevant software tools and applications used in communication and electronics engineering.
  10. Experience in the maritime industry or port operations is advantageous but not required.
