Job Description

Port Qasim Authority is looking for a detail-oriented and experienced individual to join our team as Deputy Manager in the Payroll Unit. The Deputy Manager will oversee all aspects of payroll processing and related activities to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timeliness.

Responsibilities:

  1. Manage the day-to-day operations of the Payroll Unit, including the processing of payroll, employee benefits, and related transactions.
  2. Supervise payroll staff, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure accuracy and efficiency in payroll processing and related activities.
  3. Coordinate with HR, Finance, and other departments to gather and verify payroll data, including timesheets, attendance records, bonuses, and deductions.
  4. Review and approve payroll calculations, ensuring compliance with company policies, labor laws, tax regulations, and collective bargaining agreements.
  5. Prepare and distribute payroll reports, statements, and payments to employees, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy of information.
  6. Address payroll-related inquiries and discrepancies from employees, managers, and external agencies, resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
  7. Stay updated on changes to payroll laws, regulations, and tax codes, ensuring compliance and implementing necessary updates to payroll processes and systems.
  8. Coordinate with external vendors, including payroll service providers, banks, and tax authorities, to facilitate payroll processing and reporting requirements.
  9. Reconcile payroll accounts, tax withholdings, and benefits contributions, investigating and resolving discrepancies as needed.
  10. Participate in the development and implementation of payroll policies, procedures, and controls to improve efficiency, accuracy, and internal controls.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. Professional certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA) is preferred.
  2. Proven experience in payroll administration, with a minimum of X years of experience in a supervisory or managerial role.
  3. Strong knowledge of payroll processes, tax regulations, labor laws, and accounting principles.
  4. Experience with payroll software and systems, preferably with proficiency in SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP systems.
  5. Excellent numerical aptitude and attention to detail, with the ability to analyze data, detect errors, and ensure accuracy in payroll calculations.
  6. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with employees, managers, and external stakeholders.
  8. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive payroll information with discretion and professionalism.
  9. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel, for data analysis, reporting, and documentation.
  10. Commitment to accuracy, integrity, and customer service excellence in payroll administration.
