Deputy Manager (Legal / Contract) - PORT QASIM AUTHORITY

Job Description

Port Qasim Authority is seeking a knowledgeable and experienced individual to fill the role of Deputy Manager in the Legal/Contract department. The Deputy Manager will be responsible for providing legal advice, drafting contracts, and managing legal affairs to support the organization's operations and objectives.

Responsibilities:

1. Provide legal advice and guidance to port management, department heads, and staff on a wide range of legal matters, including contracts, regulations, disputes, and compliance issues.
2. Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and legal documents related to port operations, construction projects, procurement, leases, and vendor agreements.
3. Conduct legal research and analysis on relevant laws, regulations, and precedents to support decision-making and ensure compliance with legal requirements and industry standards.
4. Assist in the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure legal compliance and mitigate legal risks across the organization.
5. Represent the organization in legal proceedings, negotiations, and meetings with external parties, including government agencies, regulatory bodies, contractors, and legal counsel.
6. Manage and oversee contract administration processes, including contract review, execution, performance monitoring, and dispute resolution.
7. Coordinate with external legal counsel and consultants on complex legal matters, litigation, and regulatory compliance issues as needed.
8. Maintain accurate and up-to-date legal records, documentation, and databases, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with record-keeping requirements.
9. Provide training and guidance to staff on legal matters, contract management best practices, and risk mitigation strategies.
10. Stay updated on changes in laws, regulations, and industry trends relevant to the organization's operations, and communicate updates and implications to relevant stakeholders.

Requirements:

1. Bachelor's degree in Law, Legal Studies, or a related field. Master's degree in Law or relevant specialization is preferred.
2. Admission to the bar and active license to practice law in Pakistan.
3. Proven experience in legal practice or corporate legal affairs, with a minimum of X years of experience in contract drafting, negotiation, and legal advisory roles.
4. Strong knowledge of contract law, commercial law, administrative law, and other relevant areas of law.
5. Excellent drafting and negotiation skills, with the ability to draft clear, concise, and legally sound contracts and legal documents.
6. Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify legal issues, assess risks, and develop practical solutions.
7. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with internal stakeholders and external parties.
8. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
9. Proficiency in legal research, case law analysis, and legal drafting software.
10. Commitment to ethical conduct, integrity, and confidentiality in handling sensitive legal matters and information.
