Job Description

Port Qasim Authority is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join our team as Deputy Manager (Imports/Exports). The Deputy Manager will be responsible for overseeing and facilitating import and export operations within the port, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinate and supervise import and export activities within the port, including cargo handling, customs clearance, documentation, and logistics.
  2. Liaise with shipping agents, freight forwarders, customs officials, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth and timely clearance of imported and exported goods.
  3. Monitor cargo movements and vessel schedules, optimizing berth allocation, container handling, and storage facilities to minimize turnaround times and maximize throughput.
  4. Ensure compliance with import and export regulations, tariffs, and trade agreements, advising stakeholders on customs procedures, documentation requirements, and tariff classifications.
  5. Collaborate with port terminal operators, shipping lines, and other service providers to address operational issues, resolve disputes, and improve service quality.
  6. Coordinate with government agencies, trade associations, and industry stakeholders to identify opportunities for process improvement, cost reduction, and service enhancement in import and export operations.
  7. Supervise a team of import/export coordinators, clerks, and support staff, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback to ensure productivity and professionalism.
  8. Monitor and analyze import/export trends, market conditions, and competitor activities, providing strategic insights and recommendations to support business development efforts.
  9. Maintain accurate records and documentation of import/export transactions, including manifests, bills of lading, customs declarations, and cargo tracking information.
  10. Respond to customer inquiries, complaints, and service requests related to import/export operations, ensuring timely resolution and customer satisfaction.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. Master's degree or professional certification is preferred.
  2. Proven experience in import/export operations, logistics management, or international trade, with a minimum of X years of experience.
  3. Comprehensive knowledge of customs procedures, import/export regulations, and international trade documentation.
  4. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify operational bottlenecks, streamline processes, and implement solutions.
  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  6. Leadership qualities, including the ability to motivate and inspire a team, foster teamwork, and promote a culture of excellence.
