Job Description

ort Qasim Authority is seeking a skilled and dedicated individual to serve as Deputy Conservancy Officer. The Deputy Conservancy Officer will play a vital role in managing environmental conservation efforts and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements within the port area.

Responsibilities:

  1. Assist the Conservancy Officer in developing and implementing environmental conservation policies, programs, and initiatives to protect and preserve natural resources within the port.
  2. Conduct regular inspections of port facilities, waterways, and surrounding areas to assess environmental conditions, identify potential risks, and recommend corrective actions.
  3. Monitor water quality, air emissions, noise levels, and other environmental indicators, collecting data and conducting analyses to evaluate environmental impacts and trends.
  4. Coordinate with internal departments, regulatory agencies, and environmental consultants to obtain permits, licenses, and approvals for port operations and development projects.
  5. Conduct environmental assessments and impact studies for proposed port expansion, dredging activities, and infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and best practices.
  6. Develop and implement pollution prevention and waste management programs to minimize the port's environmental footprint and ensure compliance with environmental standards.
  7. Provide training and guidance to port personnel on environmental regulations, procedures, and best practices, promoting a culture of environmental stewardship and compliance.
  8. Respond to environmental emergencies, spills, and incidents, coordinating emergency response efforts and cleanup activities to mitigate environmental damage and protect public health and safety.
  9. Maintain accurate records and documentation of environmental monitoring data, inspection reports, permits, and compliance activities.
  10. Stay updated on relevant environmental laws, regulations, and industry standards, and provide recommendations for continuous improvement and risk mitigation.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Marine Biology, or a related field. Master's degree or professional certification is preferred.
  2. Proven experience in environmental management, conservation, or regulatory compliance, with a minimum of X years of experience.
  3. Thorough knowledge of environmental laws, regulations, and permitting processes in Pakistan.
  4. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex environmental issues and develop effective solutions.
  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  6. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
